Willliam Vassar

Senior Pastor

I am married to my high school sweetheart and best friend,  Cindy. She is presently working as a preschool teacher for the Northeast Arkansas Educational Cooperative at Hoxie Public School. She is a wonderful mother and wife. I would not want to do life with anyone else. We have four children. Shelby, 24, serves as a social worker for families in  Mt. Vernon, IL.  Colton, 22, is a Senior at Arkansas State University.  Bryson Lee, 8, and Joseph Michael, 6,  are our recently adopted and God appointed  forever children needless to say there is rarely a dull moment at our house.
When God arrested my soul, He instantly called me to the service of King Jesus. I love the Lord. God has gifted me through His grace the ability to share my passion for God and His mission. I have served in a pastoral role since 2010.  I have been  the  Senior Pastor at First Baptist Church- Hoxie since 2012. I am proud graduate of Mid America Baptist Theological Seminary.   My spiritual gift makeup is perfectly designed to reach a community that is somewhat disillusioned with the church. I am a peacemaker at heart with a strong commitment to the truth of God always ready to give a defense of the truth in real, tangible ways. I understand that tactical patience is a must and the work is too important to get distracted by petty differences. I strive to preach the Gospel in season or out of season. I love people and want to help them to know Christ.   I believe the scripture is a living way, and my life is captured by the Apostle Paul's writing in Philippians 3:7-10.
But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. Yea doubtless,
and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus
my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but
dung, that I may win Christ,  And be found in him, not having mine own
righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the
righteousness which is of God by faith: That I may know him, and the power of
his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto
his death...
The goal of life is to know Jesus and the power of his resurrection. It is my great pleasure to introduce the people of this world to my Lord. I am thankful to serve the community of Hoxie, Arkansas. Join me in serving our community with a passion for Christ and love for people.

About Us

Get to know more about what makes us different.

We believe that God has strategically designed our church with six values or missional motives that set apart First Baptist Church-Hoxie to accomplish the restorative mission of making disciples that make disciples in a broken community. We believe God calls our church to a deeply devoted surrender, significance of the normative (small) Kingdom church, authentic Kingdom relationship and Gospel centered Kingdom community, and equipping Kingdom missionaries.
Our missional motives stir us to live a life on mission restoring a broken  community. We accomplish  our mission through a well-defined missional map that  develops a firm foundation for new members and a strategic leadership development process to build Kingdom  mentors, trainers, equippers, and coaches. We measure success through four unique missional marks. Our expectations of every member: every disciple a disciple, a servant,  a missionary, and disciple-maker. Join the mission today!
